Crested Butte Opens Famed North Face Lift

Using the Mathematics of Snow, 126 inches of new snow equals 250 acres.  At Colorado’s "Last Great Ski Town", the 126 inches of new snow that fell on Crested Butte in December has resulted in the opening of the revered North Face Lift, servicing 250 acres of the best extreme terrain to be found anywhere.  Skiing Magazine named Crested Butte #1 Best Steeps, and the North Face Lift is a big reason why.  “We are opening this terrain as conditions allow. Our number one priority is safety for the team and for our guests," said Frank Coffee, Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s Snow Safety Director.

The rebellious younger sibling of the other I-70 resorts, Crested Butte offers an alternative to the beaten path. Literally.  Lift lines are an anomaly. And since we’re talking math, let’s talk statistics.  Already mentioned is Crested Butte’s ranking as #1 Best Steeps.  Other awards/rankings bestowed: Skiing Magazine’s #8 Best Trees, #10 Best Powder, Outside Magazine’s Top Places To Live Now, Sunset Magazine’s # 3 Top Dream Towns, SKI Magazine’s #20 Readers Survey Top Resort, One of America’s Best Small Ski Towns by Travel & Leisure Magazine, and Conde Nast Traveler’s #13 Reader’s Poll Top Resort.

So hitch a ride up the Paradise Express Lift and make a left.  The North Face Lift is open and awaits your arrival.
