The US Freeskiing Open Championships hold the title as the longest running freeskiing competition.  The contest at Copper Mountain starts this Thursday, February 26th.  The world’s best halfpipe skiers will spin, flip, and style their way to a prize purse of $20,000.  “Copper is pleased to be the home of the US Freeskiing Open for the third year,” said Copper President and COO Gary Rodgers. “Copper’s Superpipe will be home to yet another world class competition hosting freeskiing’s top talent, while each competitor gets a taste of Woodward at Copper – the first training facility dedicated to terrain park and pipe progression.”

Yes, skateboarders have known the name Woodward for years.  Woodward has created the Utopia of Training Facilities for skateboarders, and now there’s a Woodward at Copper for the winter sports.  Everything an athlete could want is there: trampolines, foam pits, and spring floors.

There will be two full days of live video webcasting.  You can watch it at usfreeskiingopen.com.  The finals will air live Saturday afternoon.

Right now, Copper Mountain has 50% off deals on all lodging for Spring Break.  No, that is not a typo.  Fifty percent off, as in half!
