Five Ski Spots to Hit NOW

Summer lovin’ is for later. Yeppers. Skiers and boarders can still revel in snowy delight because a handful of resorts are still open for business. That means you can still get busy on the slopes.

Here’s where to hit:

Snowbird, Utah: Weekends, through May 25.

The ‘Bird’ is still boasting record amounts of snow after one of the rockingest late seasons ever. Even better, the mountain is offering reduced ticket prices, and you can score a super deal on their Spring pass, at just $279 for unlimited goodness.

Arapahoe Basin, CO: Daily through June 7.

If you like your pow a little slushy, A Basin is proud to present copious amounts of Spring pow. Only four of seven lifts are open, but that means 385 acres of skiable enjoyment.

Mammoth Mountain, CA: Daily through June 14.

A recent storm painted the whole mountain white, and resort officials may extend the closing date into the summer. If you like your sludge with a dose of sun, you’re in. The men’s U.S. Ski Team is in for it this month, too, so bring your Sharpie for impromptu chairlift autograph signings.

Whistler/Blackcomb, Canada: Blackcomb until May 18. Whistler re-opens May 19.

This resort doesn’t really close, and the gray skies you’ll find during the season proper are long gone. Think sun, slush and small black bears. Don’t forget your sunscreen, eh?

Timberline, OR: Daily through July.

It’s actually still snowing at this Mt. Hood resort, so it’s like winter never stopped. Perhaps a horror show for some, but come June, the sun blazes under deep blue skies. Head up early for crisp groomers and for a real shining, check out the infamous Timberline lodge.
