Blessed by Mother Nature’s activities in the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand’s Mt. Hutt is opening two weeks ahead of schedule.

Dave Wilson, Mt. Hutt Ski Area Manager, has the mic and he’s hyping the crowd. “While it’s still very early in the season to be skiing or snowboarding, we’re delighted to be open in May and we’re looking forward to welcoming people up the mountain.”

The Summit Six Chairlift, the Quad Chair, and the Magic Carpet will be in operation this weekend.  There’s already a good three foot

base with more snow on the way.  “There’s some snow forecast for the weekend which would be a fantastic way to herald the 2009 season but we’ll have to wait and see,” Wilson said.

Skiing this Saturday!  Rejoice Kiwis, for the 2009 ski season is on!
