Snowbird Ends Ski Season Early

After 194 days and over 600 inces of snow, the Fat Lady blew her pipes a few days early.  Snowbird has closed its doors on a fantastic season.  Not even human’s biggest force-of-nature, Snowbird owner Dick Bass, could battle the elements of Mother Nature.  High temps and rain all led to a rapid decrease in conditions.

Sadness of the end of another season can be rectified by pondering the stellar line-up of the Snowbird Mountain Music Festival July 10-12.  Son Volt, Old 97s, Cowboy Junkies…read more about it here.

So that leaves three U.S. resorts still standing.  With Arapahoe Basin celebrating its final days this weekend, Monday will see only Mammoth Mountain and Timberline in Oregon still operating.

That is, the only resorts operating in North America.  Did someone say Portillo?
