Construction Underway of New Chairlift at Gore Mountain

There’s nothing like the smell of a new chairlift.  Fresh steel and Corinthian leather cushions, a new lift means instant happiness for the ski addict.

As part of the interconnect with North Creek Ski Bowl, construction is underway at Gore Mountain on a new chairlift.  I can smell it from here.  The new lift is part of a larger plan of improvements to the New York resort.  Among them, a new terrain park will open on Wild Air trail.  The trail itself will be widened for the terrain park.  Part of riding in the park is the glory of spectators watching.  This new terrain park will be below the Northwoods Gondola lift.  That’s free entertainment for the lift riders, and more glory for the terrain park legends.

But, for me, a chairlift geek, the new lift that will connect North Creek Ski Bowl and Gore Mountain is the real gem of the upgrades.  The interconnect lift is scheduled to open up for the 2010-11 ski season.  A triple chair.  Those smell the best!
