Preparations are in full-on-hurry-up mode for the opening of New Zealand’s Remarkables this weekend.  The skiing jones of New Zealanders has been at unquenchable levels since the first snowfalls in May.  This Saturday, rejoice, for release will replace the unsatisfied jones.

Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manger, narrates the mood: “Everyone is already excited about this season, people have been coming up to catch some pre-season snow, and loving it.”

For parental types looking to give their young groms a good first ski or snowboard experience, the Remarkables have invested heavily in expanding their family and beginner areas.  “Every season we try and improve, and this season we’re particularly happy to open our expanded Skiwiland Early Learning Centre – we’re looking forward to welcoming young children and their families along with all other skiers and riders from opening day.”

Also this year The Remarkables, like nearby Treble Cone, have implemented a shuttle service for white-knuckled drivers.  The shuttle is free and departs from Queenstown Snow Center.
