Portillo Neck Deep in Powder: NASTC & Ski Stars Right Now!

It’s a pounding worthy of an up-and-coming 19-year-old destruction machine named Mike Tyson.  Portillo, the great Chilean ski area, is in the throws of a serious winter.  Saturday brought three feet of snow, followed by a short break in the storm action on Sunday.  In the next 48 hours, Portillo will get pounded like an aging Larry Holmes, with another four feet of snow expected.

The North American Ski Training Center continues to fulfill their legacy this week in Chile.  NASTC offers intermediate, advanced, and expert ski instruction in both Tahoe and various premier destinations worldwide.   Chris and Jenny Fellows, NASTC Directors, believe a  dynamic ski immersion technique takes each student through a multi-layered process exploring the body, mind and spirit.  Ultimately, sheparding students  rapid and steady improvement. NASTC’s combination of high-performance instruction with the ultimate ski vacation is clearly an enriching experience considering the eighty percent return rate!

The snow is there and so are the ski stars.  It’s Chris Davenport’s annual “Ski with the Superstars.”  Yep, you should be there right now drinkin’ Pisco Sours on the big yellow ship, aka Hotel Portillo, with ski-mountaineer hero Chris Davenport, Warren Miller film stars Wendy Fisher and Chris Anthony, the godfather of freestyle Mike Douglas, and PSIA green jacket wearin’ Mike Rogan and Chris Fellows.

Hotel Portillo is an island unto itself, a cruise ship that thankfully ran aground at 10,000 feet (must have been during Noah’s time).  The biggest, baddest, most uncrowded slopes south of the equator, Portillo and Hotel Portillo have a few remaining slots for you.  Flip the equator switch, it’s winter right now!
