Alyeska Launches New Trail this Weekend with Blueberry Festival

If you happen to be in Alaska this weekend, because who knows, you might—head to the Alyeska Resort (home of the 2009 U.S. National Championships for alpine skiing) for their Blueberry Arts and Music Festival and the celebration of their new North Face Trail.

On August 22 at 2:00pm, join Mayor Dan Sullivan as he cuts the ribbon launch the newest addition to Alyeska Resort’s summer trails. Other festival highlights are as follows:


Free guided hike up the new North Face Trail. Proper footwear and water recommended.


Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the North Face Trail at the top of the trailhead.

Blueberry Stomp Kids Fun Run for ages 3-12 years old. Win prizes just for entering.  Parents are welcome to join the fun. Free!

Blueberry Pie Eating Contest.  Enter for a chance to win lift tickets.

Blueberry Creations Contest & Drunken Blueberry Contest. Drop off entries from noon to 4:30pm, for a chance to win lift tickets.

Guided mountain bike tours on the Blueberry Pancake downhill trail.  Register at the Blueberry Info Booth. Helmets required.
