New Ski Trail to the Village at Mammoth to Open in December

Rejoice, for the apres ski spots in the Village at Mammoth will now be accessible by the one way we all love to travel: on snow!

Presently, you have to hop the gondola down from Canyon Lodge to the Village, or (gasp!) drive to the Village.  But, those days are no more!

The germination of the idea goes back to the 1970s.  Design of the trail has been ongoing since 1994.  Yep, it’s been a long time in the making.  It’s like planting a tree and being told to wait until that tree is 30 feet tall.  Thankfully, I haven’t been sitting and watching the tree (or trail) progress.  I just now accept the news that this coming ski year, the new Village Ski Back Trail will be open.

Straight from the last run of the day, down the 22-foot wide trail to a full-on hockey-stop spray of my buddy at the bottom of the run.  Click the bindings, grab the skis, take a few steps, sit down, and, “One Guinness and a shot of Beam, please.”

This apres-ski fantasy will become reality when the Village Ski Back Trail opens up this Christmas.
