Copper Mountain Half Marathon This Weekend

Hey, feel like running 13.1 miles through the mountains at a minimum of 10,000 feet elevation this weekend? Well, if your iron lungs can take it, head on out to Copper Mountain, Colorado this Saturday for the third annual Copper Mountain U.S. Race Series Half Marathon. If you’re not down for that kind of distance, try the 12K, 5K, or MaraFun for the kids. All proceeds from the race help support research for Prostate Awareness and Cancer Education (PACE). The race this year will be staffed by many volunteers from TEAM Summit, a local competition ski and snowboard competition club for any athletes ages 5-and-up. If you’re familiar with Copper Village, here’s a description of where the race takes you: “The picturesque 13.1 mile course runs from Burning Stones Plaza in Copper through the East Village, Alpine lift and the Triple Treat area. A quick uphill run on Vail Pass turns participants around to face a fast downhill to a grand musical finish into Burning Stones Plaza. The Finish Line Festival at Copper features music, food and beverages and the race awards ceremony. The event is walker friendly, open to a 13.5 minute per mile pace”. Best of luck to all the athletes!
