There might not be a flake of snow on the ground yet, but that didn’t stop the Lake Tahoe Ski Foundation’s 16th annual Argentinean asado party from happening last weekend at the Quist Estate on the lake’s western shore.  The asado,

which is essentially slow-cooked sides of lamb that are prepared on an open wood fire, was prepared by local resident and 1960 Argentinean Olympian Osvaldo Ancinas. The event was an Olympic celebration honoring all skiing Olympians in advance of the 50th anniversary of the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics that is coming up this winter.  About 250 former Olympians, ski coaches, family, friends, and skiing enthusiasts came out to celebrate and show their support for the club.
