Standard Films have been producing greatness for 18 years running.  Since 1991 the Mike Hatchett and crew have been documenting the progression of snowboarding.  With the Hatchett Brothers’ Metal Band Fortress, you know what style of music will be pounding through the speakers during the West Coast premiere of “Black Winter.”  A little Lamb of God in the above trailer will surely get you primed for this Friday nights screening.

As for the riders, “Black Winter” will feature next-gen superstars Halldor Helgason of Iceland, Torstein Horgmo from Norway, Jason Dubois from Quebec City, and Lonnie Kauk of Mammoth Lakes.

Two-time X Games gold medalist and Shaun White slayer Andreas Wiig is also part of the Standard crew this year.  Ditto for Chas Guldemond, Eric Jackson and Mark Landvik.

The 16mm film was shot on location in: Terrace, British Columbia; Norway; Iceland; Haines, Alaska; Squaw Valley; Park City, Utah; Sierra-at-Tahoe, Calif.; Crested Butte, Colo.; Montreal, Quebec; and Switzerland.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.  If you’re in Tahoe or can easily teleport there, tickets are on sale now at Porter’s (Tahoe City, Truckee, Incline Village) and the Squaw Valley Cable Car ticket window.
