More white stuff hitting the mountain: Vail begins making snow

The ski and snowboard season is approaching quickly at Vail Mountain, as the countdown is currently at 45 days.  However, the countdown for the snowmaking crew to commence on their duties is at zero days, as today they began using the new automated snowmaking system in Golden Peak.  The cold weather aided in getting the new machine going, as the automated system was completed in the past few days.  This new system allows for snow to be made during short windows of cold temperatures, which is something that the manual systems could not do.  Vail Mountain ski resort is set to open to the public on November 20th.
