Free rhymes with me.  If it’s free, I’m there.  Free chairlift rides at Vancouver Island’s Mount Washingtno Alpine Resort on Saturday!  The resort is having an open house, showing off major improvement projects completed over the summer.  Check out the major brush-cutting on the front side of the mountain and a re-countering project at the top of the Eagle Chair.

“The re-contouring work involves the redistribution of up to 3000 cubic meters of rock and debris,” explains ski resort President Peter Gibson. “This is the most significant summer grooming and slopes maintenance program that we’ve seen in the last 30 years.”

The free rides will be on the Mile High Chairlift from noon to 3pm on Saturday.  Part of the festivities is Mount Washington’s annual Turkey Sale, where you’ll find huge discounts on last winter’s gear and outerwear.

“We’re discounting last season’s gear by as much as 70 percent,” says the mountain’s Retail Supervisor, Chris Dennis. “And all current season passholders will receive 20 percent off the latest 2009-10 soft good arrivals at our Turkey Sale.”
