Crystal Mountain (WA) draws big crowds on opening day

A full month ahead of last year’s opening date, Crystal Mountain dropped the curtain on the ’09-’10 ski season.  Around 2,500 skiers and boarders hit up epic early season conditions.  A big Pac Northwest storm last weekend lead to Washington’s largest ski area moving opening day up to today, Wednesday, and made for great opening day turns.

Anticipation was obviously high for opening day, and Crystal Mountain obliged by opening 20 minutes early.  Tiana Enger with Crystal Mountain told KOMO, “The mountain looks great and we’re just happy to be open.”

Tomorrow, fellow instate ski area Mt. Baker opens up.
