Mt. Baker (WA) opens with 80 inch base and free face shots

Too much of a good thing is a great thing.  While opening days are historically more about a starved fix for few turns on marginal snow, Mt. Baker opened the ski season today on an 80″ base.  Still waiting for reports on whether or not heads exploded, as first day exuberance multiplied by an epic pow day could result in minds combusting.

Opening days, first chairs, they’re all fantastic regardless of conditions.  Summer places a stiff embargo on skiing, and once that embargo is lifted, we’re all just happy to make some turns.  At Mt. Baker today, the embargo lifted and dropped folks in the middle of February.  The Snow Gods are mighty, all praise!
