Seven Springs Mountain Resort will operate and re-open the dormant Laurel Mountain Ski State Park, officials said today.  The ski resort signed a 10-year lease, and it will build snowmaking ponds and alter some of the existing runs and trails.  Laurel Mountain is about 25 miles from Seven Springs, and it will probably not re-open until next year at the earliest.  The state’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources currently owns the ski area, and has committed $6.5 million to improvements that Seven Springs has planned.
