Big Sky Resort has opened with a bang this year, as the ski resort has started with over five feet of natural snow and had the most open terrain in the Rockies on Thanksgiving Day.  The Lone Peak Tram opened this week, which made the number of available acres to 1,161 and the vertical drop to 3,650 feet.  The upper mountain has a base of 35 inches, and the snow has been popular with skiers and boarders as attendance so far is 40% higher than last year.
