The big winter storm isn’t the only thing that is making news in the Sierras: The very-much anticipated Ritz-Carlton Highlands opened today during a ribbon cutting ceremony.  The new property is located mid-mountain in the Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort, and will give guests one of the best ski-in, ski-out locations.  The project totaled $300 million, and includes the Manzanita restaurant and The Highlands Spa.  A new gondola, the Highlands Gondola, also opened today, and will take guests from the Ritz to the Village-at-Northstar.   The Ritz-Carlton Highlands has already helped the local economy, as it created over 350 jobs in the Northern California area.
