Second annual Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series event to be held Sunday

The Second Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series Event Will Be Held This Sunday, February 7, 2010


Event Held at Beaver Creek’s Creekside Park and Commences at 11a.m.

BEAVER CREEK, Colo.-Feb. 4, 2009- Snowshoers will high step it up to Beaver Creek’s Creekside Park this Sunday, Feb. 7 for the second Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series event of the season. Taking place directly below Beaver Creek Village at an elevation of 7,400 feet, Creekside Park provides a scenic backdrop for the second race in the three-event series. Sunday’s event will commence promptly at 11 a.m.

Now in its thirteenth season, the Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series is the largest snowshoe series of its kind in North America. Each event within the series includes the East West 5K Quest, a competitive 10K, a Kids’ 1K and a 100-yard Blue Moose Dash for Cash plus it features slope-slide sponsor expos and post-event plaza parties. The first race of the 2010 season, held Jan. 11, saw nearly 400 participants.

“The Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series has a place for every age, gender and ability,” said Missy Johnson of Highline Sports & Entertainment. “Each race draws first-time snowshoers, world-class snowshoe athletes, kids of all ages and everyone in between. Event-goers are guaranteed a morning filled with camaraderie among racers and event producers.”

Following the race, a post-event party and awards ceremony will take place on the Beaver Creek Village Plaza, adjacent to the ice skating rink, with complimentary food and beverages provided by the Dusty Boot. The top three overall 10K finishers will receive cash prizes, the top three 5K finishers will receive merchandise prizes and the top two 100-yard Blue Moose Dash for Cash winners will receive $100 each. All event participants are eligible to win post-race raffle prizes courtesy of many of the Series’ sponsors including Atlas Snowshoes, a Muscle Milk package, spa gift certificates and gifts from Ski-Resort” title=”Vail” alt=”Vail” target=”Self”>Vail Valley merchants.

Event pre-registration is available online for $30 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 6. Event day registration will be available for $35 and will take place in Beaver Creek near the covered bridge starting at 9 a.m. The Kids’ 1K for children 12 years-of-age and younger is free for any child accompanied by a parent. Childcare resources will not be offered this year due to lack of demand. Online registration, as well as detailed event information is available at

Atlas Snow-Shoe Company will provide a limited number of free snowshoe demos and basic instruction to participants prior to the event. In addition, the Beaver Creek Nordic Center will provide a limited number of snowshoe rentals. All snowshoes will be available on a first-come, first serve basis.
