The Bake Shop at Alyeska

Winter turns The Bake Shop into a warm and cozy locale, where you can warm up with a bowl of steaming, homemade soup after skiing or playing in the snow. Since we are located at the base of the Alyeska Ski area, many patrons ski right up to
our door. It is also here that you meet local Girdwood residents, welcoming you to “their” restaurant.

The Bake Shop is open daily from 7 am to 7 pm. (Saturdays until 8 pm). We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual atmosphere. The Bake Shop is famous for its unique breakfast items, such as Summer of ’76 and Farmer’s Omelet. Everyone Lunch Plateloves the Sourdough Pancakes, Sweet Rolls, freshly made Sandwiches and homemade Soups. Pizzas are made with a wholesome rye crust and garden-fresh vegetables

We bake primarily two types of bread. The well-known ‘Alyeska Sourdough Bread’ and the new ‘Country Rye Bread’ are both homemade with our live Making Cookiessourdough. The Sourdough, which is also used to produce our fine Sourdough Pancakes, was passed on about 80 years ago by a fortune seeking gold miner in this valley.  It is being ‘fed’ and ‘doubled’ every day and our bakers will tell you that it has it’s very own temperamental personality, thus making it quite a challenge to work with.

Wednesday: Vegetarian
Friday: New England Clam Chowder
Sat: Szegedin Goulash/Minestrone (alternating)
Sunday: Vegetable Beef Barley
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday is chef’s choice…call ahead!
