Colorado’s Loveland Ski Area lives up to its name on Valentine’s Day with the 19th Annual “Marry Me and Ski For Free Mountaintop Matrimony” event. Couples participating in the mass wedding on Sunday get hitched for life (hopefully) and get a 2-for-1 lift-ticket deal for the day.

Couples must pre-register through the Loveland website by Friday. Those getting married also need to bring a Colorado marriage license to be signed at the event.

The ceremony for couples getting married or renewing their vows will take place at noon Sunday outside the Ptarmigan Roost Cabin at the top of Chair No. 2. Couples and guests must all go up on the 12-minute lift ride and ski or snowboard down after the ceremony. Conducted by Harry Heilman of the Universal Life Church, the mass wedding is is expected to last about 30 minutes.

Coming down from an elevation of 12,050 feet, shaky skiers and boarders should not worry, because green runs are an option for the entire way back to the base area. A reception with wedding cake at the base area’s Basin Patio will start at 1:30 p.m.
