Telluride shifting into spring with extended hours and new lodging specials

MARCH 2, 2010. (Telluride, CO) – Spring is in the air in Telluride! With more daylight hours for winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy, Telluride Ski Resort is shifting daily operating hours from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on March 14, 2010 with Daylight Saving Time. Clocks will be set ahead one hour as Telluride springs forward and kicks back!

“We find our guests like the extra hour at the end of the day,” said Dave Riley, CEO of the resort. “The hour shift worked great last year, and après ski is a lot of fun soaking up the sun in the late afternoon hours.”

Après ski at the Hop Garden, located at the base of Village Express (Lift 4) in Mountain Village, with daily specials from 3 p.m. -6 p.m. daily. The European styled ski bar features a beer garden with the largest yellow umbrella one will ever see! The perfect complement to a day on the slopes features the best sizzling ‘Skier‘s Union’ burgers in Telluride. With over ten specialty beers on tap inside and outdoor entertainment Thursdays through Sundays, the Hop Garden is the best après ski location in Telluride Mountain Village.

Resort restaurants will open at regularly scheduled hours, except the upper mountain Giuseppe’s, High Camp and Alpino Vino shifting 30 minutes later, and the Gorrono Saloon staying open until 5:30 p.m. to serve the later beach crowds. All lift operating hours will shift an hour forward, opening at 10 a.m. Hike-to terrain cut off times will also shift to an hour later as conditions allow. Ticket offices and windows will open and close an hour later, with the Mountain Village Ticket Office open from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Ski school private lessons will shift an hour later (all day 10 a.m.-5 p.m., half day 10 a.m.-1p.m. and 2 p.m.-5p.m.). Adult group lessons will still run from 11:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. and children’s group lessons will shift by 15 minutes, running from either

10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (ages 7-14) or 10:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. (ages 3-6). The Ski & Snowboard School will also be offering a Spring Special 1-hour private lesson from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. for $125. Daycare hours are 9 a.m. -5 p.m. For more information please call 970-728-7507.
