LUDLOW, Vt. – Okemo Mountain Resort will celebrate the changing of the seasons with a weekend full of wild events and activities for skiers and riders of all ages. The first weekend of April will witness the resort’s annual Slush Cup pond skimming competition, the second annual Splash for Cash contest, and an Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday.

April 3 – Okemo Slush Cup. The object is to ski or snowboard down a trail and skim across an 80-foot-long slush pond without falling into it! It’s a chilly spring dip for those who don’t make it. This popular competition is open to the first 125 participants. The entry fee is $20. Fabulous prizes will be awarded in several categories: best costume, driest, best wipeout, etc.. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the pond skimming starts at 11 a.m.

April 3 – Splash for Cash. Go big and get wet! One huge kicker will be built at the edge of the slush-cup pond. Contestants will get one shot to go big and get wet. Best freestyle tricks and biggest splashes will win top honors. Two age category winners will split the registration fees and go home with some soggy dollars in their pockets! Skiers and riders who register for both the Splash for Cash and the Slush Cup will pay just $30. Splash for Cash starts at 1 p.m.

April 4 – Okemo’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The ski slopes will be teeming with colored eggs stuffed with prizes, including certificates for breakfast at The Hatchery – but there’s only one oversized Golden Egg hidden on one of Okemo’s trails. The lucky bunny who finds that, wins a pair of skis or a snowboard.
