Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – March 24, 2010 – Heavenly Mountain Resort (www.skiheavenly.com) released the 2010 SpringLoaded event schedule today. A wide-range of activities are scheduled for the SpringLoaded weeks, including the legendary Gunbarrel 25, on-mountain concerts and two days of pond skimming.

SpringLoaded will return to Heavenly March 26 through April 10, 2010. Heavenly’s annual spring break skiing and riding celebration is filled with California sunshine, Heavenly’s famous spring conditions, the infamous pond skimming contest…plus much, much more. Off the mountain there’s non-stop action with world-class entertainment, après-ski parties, and the South Shore’s 24-hour nightlife. Highlighting this year’s event, Harrah’s Showroom will host The Dan Band on Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are available at www.harrahslaketahoe.com.

“Spring skiing and activities have been celebrated at Heavenly for over 50 years,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice president of sales and marketing. “The conditions are always outstanding and the sunshine is always abundant. The events we host just keep growing and becoming more of a draw for skiers and snowboarders from as far away as the U.K. and Australia. SpringLoaded is always a big hit with people searching for those perfect spring days, college kids looking for non-stop fun and families seeking that last getaway of the season.”

Heavenly’s SpringLoaded weeks will kick-off with the Heavenly Snowed-In College Weekend March 26 through 28. Two days of pond skimming at Adventure Peak, the Salomon Backyard Bang Rail Jam in the Mont Bleu parking lot and an evening concert with Orange County-based prog-emo group Thrice and Kandi Coded featuring snowboarding legend Jamie Lynn. Packages including two nights lodging and two days of Heavenly lift tickets start at just $186 per person based on quad occupancy. Lodging available at Blue Lake Inn, Big Pines or Horizon Hotel and Casino located one block from the Heavenly Gondola. For complete information and to book this package call 1-800-HEAVENLY.

The Pond Skimming Championships of Tahoe will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28 at the top of the gondola’s Adventure Peak pond. The events are free to enter and open to all levels of skiers and snowboarders who aren’t afraid to get wet! Registration will be held each day at the pond beginning at noon and is open to the first 50 competitors. The events will begin at 1:00 p.m. Bring the family to watch as skiers and snowboarders attempt to cross the 60-foot pond. Cash and prizes will be given to the best pond skimmers and costumes.

Saturday, April 3, 2010, Glen Plake will host Heavenly’s sixth-annual Gunbarrel 25 mogul marathon on North America’s toughest black-diamond bump run – Gunbarrel. The event is designed to incorporate Plake’s passion for freestyle skiing with Heavenly’s legendary spring bumps. The event is open to all advanced skiers and riders. There are multiple categories including skiers (male/female), snowboarders (male/female), under 16 (boy/girl), other (monoski, teleski, etc.); the top male and female finishers completing the most laps in the allotted time will receive the Ironman and Ironwoman awards. This is an opportunity to enjoy a spring day on the mountain with one of the industry’s most prominent ski icons.

The Heavenly Ski Patrol Fundraiser Beach Party will be held on top of the Gondola parking garage on Saturday, April 10 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Live music will be performed by local bluegrass sensation Blue Turtle Seduction and The Devastators.
