Forest Service approves Buttermilk’s expansion proposals

Good news for Buttermilk and the Aspen Skiing Co., as the U.S. Forest Service has approved the mountain’s long-term proposals.  The proposals included building Nordic ski jumps, as well as expanding snowmaking, summer horseback riding, and lift facilities.  The decision to approve the plans comes after a two-year process that including an environmental assessment and comments from the public.  Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said the ski resort does not have any immediate plans to move forward with the proposals.
