Held annually in Stowe since 1940, the Sugar Slalom is the most recognized alpine ski race event in the area. Open to USSA licensed racers ages 10 and up, this race attracts some of the best talent in the East and is a great opportunity to lower USSA points late in the season. Sugar Slalom is open to anyone over 21 years of age wishing to be a part in the weekend’s festivities.

Originating as a celebration of the arrival of spring and the tapping of maple trees, the Sugar Slalom is held in a Mardi Gras atmosphere complete with music, barbecue on the hill, fantastic ski racing and festive costumes. To top it all, the race also features a unique Vermont treat – maple syrup on snow, donuts and pickles at the finish.

The two-day race annually draws over 1,000 avid racers and some 600 spectators.
