As the 2009-2010 ski and snowboard season comes to a close at Steamboat Ski Area, the ski resort has announed that logging operations to remove dead trees at the base of the mountain will begin on April 15.  The ski area, along with the city of Steamboat Springs, Rogue Resources, and the U.S. Forest Service are going to work together to remove about 50 acres of dead pines from many locations at the resort.  The project will continue through July 31, and the Thunderhead hiking trail, along with the upper sections of the Yoo Hoo and Sitz biking trails, will be closed for public use.  For updated trail closures and more information, call (970) 879-7300 or (970) 879-6111.
