Contrary to reports, Alpine Meadows is not closing this Sunday

While it may be closing time for many ski resorts in Lake Tahoe, Alpine Meadows is definitely not one of them.  There have been reports and a TV broadcast indicating that the resort’s Closing Day would be this Sunday, April 18.  However, according to a spokeswoman for the resort, Alpine Meadows is planning to remain open until May 16, which would make it the last Lake Tahoe-area ski resort to close.  There is still plenty of snow on the mountain, as 18 inches have fallen in the last week, including eight inches on Sunday.
