Mad River Glen announces Dec 16 as opening day

Ski it if you can.  Mad River Glen, the Sub Pop Records of the ski world, has announced a tentative opening date.  A ski area that is near the top of the bucket list, check out The Ski Channel’s story on their single-person chairlift (the only operational single in the continental U.S.) by clicking here.

Eric from Mad River Glen sent out this all-points bulletin this afternoon:

The “Hanukkah Miracle” storm just keeps on coming!! We picked up another 4′-6 overnight on top of the ” 12″ to 18″ from yesterday and it continues to snow. That’s 16″ to 26″ out of this system so far and yupit’s still snowing! It’s a very light, fluffy, wind driven snow. Not the most ideal base-building snow in the world, but it certainly helps us out as we approach opening day!  Our goal is to open up on or around December 16.  It is still very thin up there but if Mother Nature continues to bestow her wintry bounty we may open sooner so stay tuned!

100% of our snow making firepower has been brought to bear on the slopes of Gen. Stark Mountain  (yup, BOTH guns are a blazin’!) and  operations will continue as temps are ideal for the foreseeable future.

Hope to see you all on the hill real soon. Take care and…..

THINK SNOW!!!
