Fresh off more than a foot of natural snow, Crystal Mountain in Michigan is planning a five-for-$50 lift-ticket special on Friday. Groups of five can buy five tickets for the day (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) at the lift-ticket window for $50. Smaller groups of two, three and four can split the $50 cost… or perhaps make a few new friends to maximize the discount. Lift tickets at this time of year usually cost $45 each.
With good conditions for snowmaking in the forecast, Crystal Mountain expects a 36-inch base by Friday. Buck, Gorge, Tuck’s Terrain Park and Main Street are among the eight to 10 additional trails confirmed to open Friday with Loki scheduled to open on Saturday. Continued natural snow and low temperatures could make it possible to open even more terrain at the ski area with a 375-foot vertical drop.
Located less than 15 miles from the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, Crystal Mountain is just west of the town of Thompsonville, Mich. The four-season resort is 234 miles from Detroit and 280 miles from Chicago.
