Sunday River Ski Resort in Newry, Maine, is inviting students from middle schools and high schools throughout the country to compete in its ultimate Get Schooled Giveaway. Undoubtedly the coolest homework assignment out there, this competition will allow 50 winning students to take over an entire wing of Sunday River’s Ski Dorm for two days of snow-filled fun March 25-27, 2011.

To enter, students must submit the reason they, and 49 of their closest friends, deserve a field trip to Sunday River Ski Resort, by 5 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2011.

“Students can enter any way they want,” says Nick Lambert, VP of Sales and Marketing for Sunday River. “They can send us a letter, poster, a video–even a paper-mâché likeness of our mascot Eddy the Yeti. Just make sure it shows us how much your school deserves to win.”

Valued at $8,600, Sunday River’s Get Schooled Giveaway includes two nights’ lodging at the Sunday River Ski Dorm and two days of lift tickets, plus two mornings of breakfast and a dinner buffet for 50 people.

Located just steps from the slopes, the Sunday River Ski Dorm sleeps 200 people and its four separate wings feature bunk-style accommodations perfect for youth groups. Additionally, the Shockwave Recreation Room, houses LCD televisions complete with cable and DVD players, a 52 inch flat screen television with a designated Nintendo Wii, plus foosball and ping pong. Downstairs, the Snowbound Cafeteria is on site to prepare hot breakfasts and dinner for the winning group.

The winning school will be notified on Friday, March 4, 2011, by a phone and later announced on Sunday River’s Facebook Page.

In addition to a weekend full of skiing and riding on Sunday River’s eight-mountain playground, the weekend of March 25–27, 2011, also marks the resort’s third annual Dumont Cup hosted by X Game gold medalist and freeskiing legend, Simon Dumont.

For this highly anticipated event, the winning school will be invited to watch freeskiing’s top pros plus the best amateurs from across the country compete in the biggest get schooled competition of them all.
