Snowmass and Aspen Mountain opened for the 2012/13 season yesterday with bluebird skies and soft groomed runs! Thankful skiers and snowboarders were all smiles on Opening Day.
A snowboarding Turkey was even spotted on Aspen Mountain, fully embracing the holiday, as seen in the photos.
In addition to Opening Day, this weekend marks the Audi FIS Ski World Cup on Aspen Mountain, featuring the world’s fastest women ski racers as well as a FREE concert on Saturday night with Reverend Horton Heat followed by fireworks over Aspen Mountain.
World Cup Details:
The Audi FIS Ski World Cup at the Nature Valley Aspen Winternational takes to the hill, kicking off the Aspen/Snowmass opening weekend November 24-25th. The greatest female racers in the world take to Aspen’s world renown racing venue as spectators near and far are invited to the base of Lift 1A for a perfect view. The event is FREE. Giant Slalom racing will take place on Saturday at 10:15am, followed by the finals at 1:15pm. On Sunday, Slalom races will begin at 10am with finals occurring at 1pm. As always, the races are surrounded by a host of FREE community events and activities.
Aspen/Snowmass will officially kick-off the Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Serieswith a FREE concert featuring Reverend Horton Heat, Saturday, November 24 at 6:30pm at the base of Aspen Mountain in the Upper Gondola Plaza. World Cup Awards will take place on the stage following the concert at 8pm. A spectacular fireworks display will follow at 8:15pm.
