Jackson Hole Insider Tips

Ben Ford Insider Tips: Jackson Hole

What is your favorite run?
Narrowing it down to one inbounds run is almost impossible but when the snow is good and crowds are thin my favorite places to lap are the Alta Chutes under the Sublette chair. It's some of the most fun terrain on the mountain and with the lift right over your head the hooting, hollering, and heckling makes for a great time on a pow day.

What is your favorite lift?
It has to be the Tram. Wether you're skiing in-bounds or out the Tram offers the easiest and quickest access to some of the most rowdy terrain in the US.

Favorite powder stash?
A lot of inbounds stashes remain secret for a reason, but it's no secret that the backcountry surrounding the Village offers some of the best powder skiing around. Make sure youhave your avy gear, a partner, and know what you're doing before you head out of the gates because it's very easy to get in trouble out there.

Favorite apres ski?
The Village Cafe next to the Tram building is the locals favorite. Great food, cheap tall boys and easy access to the Tram make it the best place to be after (or during) skiing. If you want to sit down and make an evening out of your apres then The Mangy Moose is the place to be. Make sure to get there early and snag a seat cause the apres scene there can get wild.

Anything else that is cool?
The Tram is so good it's worth mentioning twice. 4,100 vertical feet every 9 minutes accessing thousands of acres of rowdy terrain.
