#Sun Valley

Sun Valley Resort is America’s first destination resort, originated in 1936 by Union Pacific Railroad. It is located in the Northern Rockies region of south central Idaho and is open year round with four distinctly beautiful seasons. There are more outdoor recreations here than any other destination resort in the U.S. Born out of a desire to bring the magic of European ski resorts to America, Sun Valley quickly became a phenomenon, without peer on this continent or any other.

What is your favorite run?
Most of my favorite runs are not on the map however it’s tough to beat a top to bottom high speed run down Warm Springs. This is a Sun Valley classic- 3,000 vertical feet of sustained pitch that is wide open and perfectly groomed. This run is guaranteed to make your eyes water and your legs burn.
What is your favorite lift?
Lift service layout is Sun Valley’s strength. Every corner of Bald mountain is serviced by high speed quads that climb directly up the fall line. This means you spend less time riding lifts and more time riding the mountain. The Challenger lift is my favorite, gaining over 3,000 vertical feet in less than 15 minutes.
Favorite powder stash?
The Bowls provide wide open powder skiing for hard charging skiers that like to let it run. This is my training grounds and the best way to strengthening my legs for big mountain skiing in places like Alaska. The current record is 29 laps held by local legend Mike ‘Psycho’ Levy…
Favorite apres ski?
Apples Bar and Grill is the best way to unwind after a big day of skiing. Located at the base of Warm Springs, this iconic watering hole is decorated with memorabilia that reflects the heritage of the sport. Beer never tasted so good and the gourmet soups and juicy burgers will keep you going…
Anything else that is cool?
Sun Valley company is now under new management (Tim Silva) and the new terrain park is direct evidence. For the first time in history, SunValley has a world class half pipe (22′) and terrain park. And the best part about skiing in Sun Valley is that you will never wait in a lift line over 5 minutes long…
