Lindsey Vonn Insider Tips: Vail

I just love Vail, it is my place.
Favorite Chairlift
Chair #1. How can you go wrong with Chair #1 (this terrain is now serviced by the Vista Bahn Express lift).
Favorite Gondola
Eagle Express (aka Eagle Bahn Gondola) is great. You can stand or sit and it can hold 10 people per cabin.
Favorite Apres Ski
I love Pazzo’s Pizza. My husband is obsessed. When I was a kid we would take the bus into town just to get a slice. It is amazing!

What is your favorite run?
With 193 conventional trails, it’s tough to choose a favorite run. On the front side, I’ve always enjoyed Riva Ridge. At four miles long, it’s a great top-to-bottom cruiser of intermediate and advanced terrain. I also love the challenge of the wide open and gladed terrain in Vail’s Back Bowls and regularly gravitate toward Seldom in Sun Down Bowl or Sweet N’ Sour in China Bowl.
What is your favorite lift?
Wildwood Express (#3). It’s quick and provides great access to the front side, Back Bowls and the Wildwood Smokehouse – I love the smoked chicken wild rice soup!
Favorite powder stash?
With more than 5,000 acres of skiable terrain, the great thing about Vail is that there’s plenty of powder for everyone. The Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin are full or nooks and crannies, but I also enjoy Snag Park first thing on a powder day. It’s also off the Northwoods Express Lift (#11).
Favorite apres ski?
If I’m in Lionshead, Tavern on the Square for a cocktail on the deck on a blue sky day or live music inside. In Vail Village, Vendetta’s is a long-time favorite for a beer and a slice of pizza with friends.
Anything else that is cool?
If your legs aren’t tired after a full day skiing or riding on Vail Mountain, there’s always Adventure Ridge. With tubing, ski biking by headlamp, snowshoeing, dining and more, there’s really something for everyone around here.
