Time Magazine recently released their annual Top 10 issue where they rate everything from the year's best musical albums to best
feuds, and compile it onto fun lists for readers to check out. As I was panning through the different sections, I got to thinking how it would be interesting to make one for the freestyle skiing world.
As we look back on all that has happened in the ski world this year it's hard not to think of some of the major milestones that made it one of the most memorable seasons of all time.
It's truly hard to believe that it's now almost already the end of 2009. It feels like only yesterday we were talking about getting ready to kick off the inaugural season of the Winter Dew Tour. Now we're on to the start of season two next weekend.
Doubles have become the industry standard. Urban tricks got even crazier with K-Feds, pretzels, and presses.
The year was not without its lows though. Tanner Hall tore both ACLs in May. PK Hunder broke his neck, and then the unthinkable happened.
The unexpected loss of Shane McConkey will forever define the 2009 ski season. Shane left so much of a mark on our sport that it will never quite be the same.
All that we can learn from 2009 is to take skiing one day at a time, and enjoy it.
On that note, let's review the top 10 best feel-good stories in the freestyle skiing world from 2009.
