Who Are They?

The people of whom you are about to read evoke a passion throughout the public for the snow-sports industry. It is because of them that lifts are built, runs are green lit, marketing campaigns take place, knees are worked, kids are inspired, stories are written, shows are produced, and innovation takes place. It is because of them that donors, networks, and consumers continue writing checks. We could go on with this list, but frankly we don't have the space. These are the figures in the snow-sports industry who influence. They are not just the powerbrokers---this isn't Hollywood. This is sliding down a hill on frozen water... this is a tribute to those who help make it all happen.

We start off by confessing that our list is wrong. It is not even close to being perfect. It is mired in subjectivity, bias and speculation. We polled a lot of people in the industry and made as much of a scientific process out of it as we could. There are certainly spectacular people we left off. There are those who are underrated and those who are overrated. Please send us an email at info@theskichannel.com and tell us your thoughts. If we missed someone, or mis-ranked someone, please let us know. Our goal is to shout out to those who are really moving the needle and helping raise the tide so that all the boats are floating a little higher. Our goal is not to bruise egos.

So be patient with us on this first one and appreciate that a person on the list might work harder because this gave them a little pat on the back. We'd like to think that the positive impact of this list is worth far more than any negatives that may arise from our errors. Our intention is to inspire and invigorate everyone in the snow-sports business to dream big and achieve bigger.

OK, you noticed this list is 250 people. Actually there are a little more, because there are a few families and a few partnerships in there. Could it have been 100... yes. Hopefully number 101 is appreciative that we went deeper (as is number 250). Sorry #251. So take this giant list for what it is worth and enjoy the fun read.
