Dick Ebersol

Title: Chairman

Company: Universal Sports and Olympics

Bio: When you are the Chairman of Universal Sports & Olympics, you have a fair amount of impact on snowsports. Ebersol, who is a skier and a former producer of Saturday Night Live, exposes more people to skiing, snowboarding and winter sports than virtually anyone in the space every 4th year.  Ebersol has a long history at NBC and is known as a television innovator of his generation, specifically in sports broadcast. Ebersol, an avid winter sportsman, became president of NBC Sports in 1989 and recently signed a contract that keeps him at the network through 2012.  Ebersol is best-known for his love affair with the Olympics. A protege of Olympics-coverage pioneer Roone Arledge, he worked as an ABC researcher at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Games and carried on Arledge's philosophy of presenting the Olympics through storytelling, rather than emphasizing results.  Every four years, winter sports take the mainstream stage, performing in front of millions of viewers worldwide.  And as long as NBC is the home of Olympic broadcast, Ebersol will be choreographing the antics.
