The Red Bull Signature Series has kicked off 2012 in spectacular fashion. With events like Cold Rush having been in existence for six years, it’s high time that the mass population knows what’s been going on in the snowy backcountry. As you may already know, Red Bull’s Annual Cold Rush competition is an invite-only event that pits the sport’s top skiers against one another in a peer-judged all-mountain competition. The winner of the Cold Rush is then crowned “best all-mountain skier in the world”.
Cold Rush aired on NBC a little over a month ago, but it may have been difficult to catch. In case you missed it, or if you just cannot get enough of all the action, Red Bull has made the entire broadcast available online for your viewing convenience.
The invitation-only event takes place across the epic slopes of Silverton Mountain. The Colorado peaks boast the highest and steepest ski area in North America, and can only be accessed via helicopter or hiking. The high-alpine bowls, chutes and cliffs are some of the most unique, challenging features available — and could not be a more fitting stage for the top freeskiing athletes in the world to test their mettle. With peer-judged runs, and the title of “best all-around backcountry skier” on the line, the Red Bull Cold Rush is a competition like no other.
Sal Masekela once again serves as host. Watch as athletes like Dave Treadway, Sean Pettit, Rachel Burks, Pep Fujas, Dane Tudor, Wiley Miller and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa do what they do best on the epic slopes of Silverton, Colorado.
