We’re back with Lindsey Vonn in part 3 of the 5 part series where we’ve been getting to know the talented athlete, from her time on the mountain to her life apart from skiing.
In this edition, Lindsey sits down and opens up about her skiing technique and what she does to prepare herself for the best run possible. Vonn tells us that envisioning the course and doing the “Stevie Wonder-like” hand gestures is the most important part of her pre-run focus. In Super-G, Vonn shares that visualizing the turns and mimicking once or twice what you are going to do on the run is critical. For young racers, I’d try this technique out, cause Lindsey has been killing it her whole career, especially of late!
Lindsey goes on to share with us how competing against her best friend Maria Riesch has been an awesome experience, and how they share such a special bond on and off the slopes. Lindsey admits that when the pair hang out, they can only speak English, because Lindsey’s German is terrible….I guess they didn’t teach that at the Vail Academy!
Be sure to be on the look out for part 4 of the series, and if you haven’t seen parts 1 and 2 of the interview with the beautiful Vonn check them out as well!
