Olympic Champion, world renowned skier, and role model Lindsey Vonn is back with The Ski Channel for part 2 of this 5 part interview series. In this second portion, Lindsey sits down and expands on the first Moguls video interview, sharing more experiences from her youth with us. From attending the Vail Academy and balancing school as a young girl, to her mind-blowing 16 year old debut at the World Cup, the humble Lindsey shows us again why she is a crowd favorite.

The multi-faceted, down to earth Vonn starts off by sharing her childhood experiences as part of the prestigious Vail Ski Academy, a program in which many current US ski team members also attended. Lindsey goes on to how it was difficult to miss so much school and pursue her dream as a ski racer at the same time, but with the help of her teachers and ski instructors was able to get it all done. When asked if she got into any trouble at Mt. Hood ski camps, Lindsey replies how she was the “goody-good” and straight-edge girl of the group, and that the most important part was that they all had a lot of fun…reinforcing the idea of why she is a great role model for young girls of any sport for sure.

The blonde beauty goes on to tell how she became a big time competition beast on the slopes at such a young age. Vonn made her first World Cup debut at the ripe age of 16, barely old enough to take mom’s car around the corner for a warm winter’s hot chocolate. While other girls her age were busy planning sweet 16′s, the young Vonn was going head to head with some of the world’s best female skiers, and did so with a huge smile on her face and gave the world a great glimpse into the future.  While she placed in the low 30s in her first competition, Vonn tells she was pleased and excited for her first go-round, and was stoked to get back to training to try and crack the top 30 at her next World Cup appearance. Clearly, she has exceeded her 16-year old expectations and them some.

Towards the end of the interview we see how Vonn is such a great role model, as younger members of the US Ski Team share how they look up to Lindsey for guidance and help. It is awesome for young women to see such a talented, humble athlete such as Vonn be someone to mirror on and off the slopes.
